We’ve compiled a list of our recommended places to stay based on our own travels to Yosemite. There are may places to choose from beyond this list, so feel free to do a web search if you want more options.
As you are booking, just remember to read through what to expect so you know to book a room for Friday & Saturday night if you plan to attend the ceremony & reception.
If you’re not sure what your plans are, we highly suggest securing reservations and canceling if you need to rather than wait. Even in Oakhurst where there is a larger number of options, they fill up far in advance. Just be sure you check the cancellation policy before booking if you aren’t sure you’ll be able to attend.
Wawona is about 6 miles in from the south gate of Yosemite National Park. Its close proximity to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias and it’s historical sites attract many tourists looking to get the Yosemite experience without staying in Yosemite Valley. Wawona is about 45 minutes away from the ceremony site, and accommodation options in Wawona are as close as walking distance to a 10 minute drive to the reception venue depending on your selection.
Staying in Yosemite Valley offers breathtaking views of the national park. It’s arguably the best place to stay if you wanted to extend the weekend into a mini vacation since you’ll be a few minutes away from all of the best scenic spots. Depending on where you stay, you’ll likely be a 5-15 drive away from the ceremony site, and 45 minutes away from the reception venue.
Outside Yosemite National Park
Just outside Yosemite National Park, there are many options for accommodations with easy access to grocery stores, chain restaurants, fast food, and much more. While staying outside the park means a longer drive to both the ceremony and reception, it cuts a little time off your drive to and from the hotel when you first arrive and your final departure for the weekend.
